She had texted mars about attending the festival together this year. Unless he had plans already with someone else. She didn't have plans this year since she wasn't really doing performances still. In fact she was on her twitter timeline with people tweeting at her asking her why she's still on Hiatus when the meteor was dealt with. [break][break]

Tweeting criticisms, compliments, questions, opinions. Too many things, they all rung around her head until finally she just slammed her phone into her bag in frustration. She sighed, she wanted a cigarette despite the fact she had never smoked before. [break][break]

She just wanted to enjoy herself tonight, she'd continue to keep her silence on social media for now as the rumor mills were churning out story after story. [break][break]

Her zoroark can sense her frustrations, placing a hand on her back as it slightly alters her appearance in the public crowd, keeping an eye out for Martini so that he can drop the illusion.

Perhaps this may be becoming a bit of a tradition between the two of them.

They both have always been incredibly busy people, but last year, during this very same festival, he had come to watch her perform, and even now — despite the things Melody herself isn’t aware of —it’s something Mars thinks back to with fondness. When she had invited him to this year’s performance, of course he had agreed to attend, even if unbeknownst to him she will not be performing today.

He would know if he had been looking at his social media, but Mars can barely spare a few minutes for that as of late.

Does he question why Melody asked him to meet up outside the theatre despite the fact that she’s supposed to be preparing for her performance? Yes, but for all he knows, maybe she has something to tell him…

The Zoroark notices the Persian, Zoroark's eyes then glance towards Mars and it recognizes the trainer and drops the illusion. "Oh. There you are Martini." she laughs at his silly nickname, the fact it was longer than his actual name humored her. [break][break]

"I'm right here. Zoroark was keeping me hidden from the others so my face wouldn't cause a stir." she says keeping her traditional umbrella opened and blocking most of the view of her. "Are you ready to watch the show? I haven't had a chance to check what the performance is." she asks, wondering what the performance would be this year. [break][break]

She lifts up two tickets and hands one over to mars, it was her treat.

"No, not tonight. It would be rude of me to steal the spotlight from the other dancers who are working hard tonight." she replies cheekily, turning away from him and covering her back with the umbrella as if to hide away from mars. [break][break]

She laughs out loud, making sure to move her shoulders to move the umbrella to portray her actually laughing a bit. But he face didn't match her words. "They'll survive." she says as she was upset she wasn't performing. But she couldn't allow Madeleine to control her life, it was...her decision. [break][break]

"Besides, part of being a Diva is knowing when to bow and allow someone else to have the spotlight" she says as she waits for Mars to walk up besides her.

They walk forward and it seems the performance this year is no longer the story of Groudon and Rayquaza from last year but instead a performance regarding the mythos of Ho-oh and Lugia. This was a traveling theater from Johto that came to perform this, one with several kimono girls who had eevee evolutions. Melody sat in her seat, they had a couple of minutes till the show but they had managed to get a private box for the theater. "Wow...A full house, hope they aren't nervous." she says putting her umbrella way.

Is that what it is? Knowing when to bow and allow someone else to have the spotlight? It only sounds like the Melody he knows to a degree, because while she’s not wrong, he’s also aware that she had really enjoyed last year’s performance. Still, he chooses not to push, walking alongside her towards their private box.

”In a way it’s kind of nice for you, no? To be an spectator for once, instead of the person everyone has expectations of. You can just sit and enjoy the show. I always find that kind of thing to be… refreshing.”

He’s honest about it, because while Mars himself may be no idol, he does find himself having to speak and even perform in front of crowds quite often. People like him and Melody Miro love to stand in the spotlight, but being able to just sit and watch can also be nice from time to time.

Her comment once the performance is about to begin makes one thing obvious, though.

He catches her fantasizing about the performance. Her finger tracing the intricate and beautiful wood, the stage set up, the crowd whispering as eagerness drips from every whisper and muttering. [break][break]

The only thing breaking her out of her trance was Mar's words. [break][break]

She missed it? Her face fills with a bit of panic, wishing she still had her ability to just ignore everything that was wrong like she used to be able to. "I-" she comments as her face transforms from panic to confusion and sadness. She wanted to keep avoiding it, wanted to keep acting like she was fine but things were clearly not.[break][break]

Bad habits die hard in every sense of the saying didn't they? [break][break]

"It's a... complicated relationship now to say the least." she says finding her seat in the box as she lays back into the chair and places her hands on her lap, her body trying to make itself appear as small as possible and take up the least amount of space as to no inconvenience everyone else. "I've had some things resurface lately and now my relationship with the arts is a bit tainted." [break][break]

The light purple hue on her relationships made everything look nauseous to her.

He could easily make speculations given the things he knows about her, and to a degree, it’s inevitable for those speculations to distractingly bloom in his mind. Does this have anything to do with the lasting effects of the toxins? With Melody’s mother? With everything else? Mars may not have taken part in any of it, yet he had read the reports, and that makes him complicit to a degree.

And yet, here he is, thinking of Melody as his friend.

Here he is, worrying about her wellbeing.

It’s a weakness, no doubt. One he recognizes. One he should correct. But, perhaps not yet.

”Melody. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but as I see it, if you love something, you don’t just let it go because things aren’t exactly as you wish they’d be.” Mars looks at her instead of at the stage, as if the performance no longer mattered. He only turns towards it when thinking back to his friend’s own performances at this very theatre. ”In the end, it's your choice, but if it helps at all... I’ve always thought you look happiest when you’re singing.”

She's puzzled by Mars's words even further. [break][break]

She knew what he was saying made sense, she knew what he meant made sense. The only thing she was unsure of was if what she felt was actually real. Or was it another elaborate scenario she was trapped in? [break][break]

She stays silent in response to Mars statements "I was happy cause it's what she wanted." she responds as she avoids making direct eye contact with Mars's face before she realizes that she's said too much to Mars. "I- I need to go." as her heart begins to race, she didn't want to reveal to much to mars, she couldn't dump this all on him. [break][break]

What if he thought she was a freak? What if it was too much to handle? What if he left her like the rest of the people she got close to as a child? The girl who wouldn't stop smiling couldn't seem to hold back her frown and panic now.
